About Steve Pope

From the moment he picked up a guitar at the age of two, Steve Pope was destined for a life in music. Initially a left-handed player, he transitioned to playing right-handed after beginning formal guitar lessons at eight years old.

Originally hailing from a bustling city of nearly a million residents, Steve made a life-altering move to a tranquil town of just 850 people, along with his wife and children. Now, with his children grown, he has the freedom to fully immerse himself in his true passion: creating music.

A multi-talented musician, Steve plays every instrument featured on his albums and pens all the lyrics. His skills don't stop there; he also handles all vocal arrangements, including harmonies, and takes on the roles of recording and mastering engineer. His most recent album was crafted in his personal sanctuary, Studio 417, over the course of February and March 2021. The project was a labor of love, taking more than a year from initial concept to final product.

While Steve's roots were firmly planted in rock 'n roll, his musical journey took a transformative turn upon hearing Steve Earle's "Guitar Town." This pivotal moment steered him toward the intersecting worlds of country and country rock.

His sophomore album, "Dead Horse Creek," released on May 28, 2021, is a tapestry of tales that capture the essence of everyday life for the working man. The album features 10 original tracks, ranging from the poignant title song "Dead Horse Creek" to lighthearted numbers like "Hey Selfish Girl" and "Uncle Homer." With future country rock anthems such as "National Holiday" and "Hey There Rock ’n Roller," this album is a must-listen for anyone who loves to crank up the volume and sing along.
