Embarking on a musical journey that had been years in the making, Steve Pope began working on his debut album in 2016. With a musical career spanning decades and experience in recording since the 1980s, Steve felt it was high time to produce an album of his own. Despite operating on a tight budget and limited recording equipment, he was committed to delivering the best album possible.
Comprising 11 original tracks, the album was a labor of love and a milestone Steve often cites as the proudest moment of his adult life. Released in 2018, the album was a true solo endeavor—self-produced, mastered, and recorded by Steve, who also played every instrument.
To Steve's surprise, the album garnered particular attention for one standout track: "Throwin' Shoes," a lively tribute to the sport of horseshoes. Alongside a collection of solid country rock songs, the album has gained international recognition and continues to be played in countries around the world.

Released on May 28, 2021, "Dead Horse Creek" marks Steve Pope's second full-length album, featuring 10 original tracks. Once again, Steve took on multiple roles—recording, mastering, mixing, and playing every instrument on the album. While the album is rooted in country rock, it's evident that a musical tide is turning for Steve.
The album kicks off with "Let's Kick It Off Right," a high-energy track that could easily serve as the opening number for any rock band on any stage, setting the tone for the rest of the album. The collection includes a range of excellent country rock songs and some lighter, humorous tunes. However, the standout track is undoubtedly the title song, "Dead Horse Creek," a poignant journey through time that explores the struggles of a prairie farmer's family.
The album also features Steve's first official music video for the title track, shot on location in southern Manitoba. And, staying true to his connection with the horseshoe-playing community, Steve included another horseshoe-themed song called "Oh, Another Ringer," which quickly gained traction and became a staple in community videos.

After releasing another album, Steve Pope continued to make waves in 2023 with his single "NHPA, Metal on Metal." Designed to capitalize on the buzz surrounding the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association's world tournament, the song was met with enthusiastic acclaim. It's clear that Steve's musical direction has taken a decisive turn toward rock. Undeniably a rock anthem, "NHPA, Metal on Metal" has set the stage for Steve's upcoming album.

Following the success of his hit song "Throwin' Shoes," Steve Pope found himself embraced by the horseshoe-playing community, who eagerly awaited another anthem dedicated to their sport. In response, Steve released the single "Horseshoes are Flyin' Tonight" in 2020. The track was met with enthusiastic acclaim, paving the way for Steve to create another full-length album.
